About Me

Ege Aydin

I’m Ege Aydin, a passionate software engineer whose journey began long before any formal training. Growing up in a family of engineers, I was immersed in problem-solving from an early age. But it was my first computer that truly ignited my obsession with technology. From experimenting with code as a child to leading transformative infrastructure projects, my career has been a constant pursuit of innovation.

During my college years in Turkey, my fascination with programming transformed from curiosity into a calling. I gained hands-on experience through a series of impactful internships — starting at Projesis, where I taught myself C# in just two weeks to support factory software, then at Garanti Bank, where I developed a time-off management system that streamlined HR processes. At Alcatel-Lucent, I got a taste of working on a global scale, automating complex systems in a massive commercial complex. Finally, at T&G Workshop, I built high-quality e-commerce applications while collaborating with an agile, cross-functional team. These early experiences weren’t just internships — they were a rapid education in solving real-world problems.

My story truly began with Partymag, a bold startup launched by three ambitious college students in Turkey. As the lead developer, I built scalable mobile apps for both Android and iOS, automated content management, and secured $10,000 in advertising support. It was more than just a startup — it was a crash course in fast-paced problem-solving.

Following Partymag, I joined Lisan Educational Services, where I developed a computer-based examination system that drastically reduced exam times and mentored junior developers.

Driven by a desire to become the best engineer I could be, I moved to the United States, the heart of programming and innovation, earning a Software Engineering & Quality Certificate at UCSC Extension, Silicon Valley. This was my launchpad to a career in Silicon Valley.

At Webroot, I became a catalyst for large-scale data optimization, delivering 20% cost savings, building high-speed APIs, and transforming cloud efficiency. California became a place of transformation — where I didn't just optimize systems, I reimagined them.

This journey led me to OpenText, where I didn’t just write code — I transformed infrastructure. I led a migration from Cloudera to Vertica, saving over $900K annually, and built APIs that processed over 1 billion records daily.

But beyond the world of code, I’m also the captain of my 8-ball pool team, where strategy, precision, and leadership define every match. Calculating angles, predicting shots, and leading my team to victory require the same problem-solving mindset that I bring to engineering.

On the other side of the spectrum, I am a storyteller — not just with technology, but in realms of pure imagination. As a Dungeon Master in Dungeons & Dragons, I craft immersive worlds filled with intrigue, adventure, and strategy. My voice is the thunder of ancient dragons, the whisper of a scheming rogue, and the call to adventure that beckons heroes to their destiny. In these sessions, I don’t just tell stories — I breathe life into them.

“Software innovation, like almost every other kind of innovation, requires the ability to collaborate and share ideas with other people.”
